Global Awareness Month at Park April 2024

CURAÇAO

Join us as Park Community Church explores and discerns how we may partner in the movement of the gospel on the island of Curaçao.

The Origin Story

In 2024, Park pastor Ed Kraal and his wife, Louisette, returned to their home island of Curaçao while awaiting the renewal of their American visas.

What seemed at first like a waiting season slowly became something more.
As Park pastors visited Ed and Louisette, they began to see the island through their eyes.
The beauty, history, people, churches, and needs.

And a question began to form:
What if God was doing more here than we first realized?
What if this pause was actually an invitation?

So Park sent a small team of pastors, lay elders, and staff to Curaçao.
With open hands and curious hearts.
They came to listen.
To learn.
To pray.
To ask a simple question:
“Lord, what are You doing here — and are You inviting us to join You?”

The Opportunity

They found beauty.
And they found need.
They found that God was already at work in Curaçao.

The question became how God might be inviting Park to come alongside what He is already doing — humbly, prayerfully, and interdependently.

When the team returned to Chicago, they carried more than memories.
They carried relationships.
Open doors.
A deeper burden.
And a growing sense that this curiosity may be turning into a calling.

What's Next

In the months and years ahead, we look forward to growing relationships and partnerships.

With opportunities for short term teams, including families and youth, more and more people from Park will be able to visit Curaçao.

As we engage in cross-cultural ministry, our eyes our opened and our hearts are stretched.

We grow to see God's heart for the nations. We see beautiful expressions of the global Church. The gospel continues to transform us - until there is no place left.
